Professor Julian Sefton-Green on the Everyday Digital Project – Unravelled 6 July 2018

Imagine you’re a teacher, standing in front of a classroom full of kids on their electronic devices. They’re supposed to have them, because your school has a Bring Your Own Device policy. But how do you keep them focused on their school work, rather than catching up on YouTube videos? And who is to say which digital activities are ‘educational’, and which aren’t? Deakin University’s Everyday Digital Project focuses on the experience of teachers, and explores how students are using digital technologies in everyday life, and how teachers and parents might respond. Professor Julian Sefton-Green is Professor of New Media Education at the Deakin Research for Educational Impact Centre.
